Viña del Mar International Song Festival, Chile 1988
In 1988, Elfa and Wieke composed “Inikah Cinta” or “Is This Love” and submitted this song directly to Viña del Mar International Song Festival, Chile which then performed by Harvey Malaihollo at the Viña del Mar World Song Festival in Chile, earning Elfa the Best Arranger award. This achievement highlighted his international acclaim.
Wieke Gur and Elfa Secioria collaborated on numerous songs that represented Indonesia on international stages during the 1980s and 1990s. Their partnership produced several acclaimed works, which showcased their contribution to Indonesian music.
5th asean pop song festival, manila 1988
As Indonesia’s representative, the song “Kusadari” won the Best Song Award at the 5th ASEAN Pop Song Festival, held at the Neptune Theatre Restaurant in Manila, Philippines, on 17 April 1988. Chosen by six judges, “Kusadari” (I Realise) stood out for its poignant message and beautiful composition.
Composer Elfa Secioria shared, “I composed the song within a day in a fit of inspiration, but I owe it to my lyricist, Wieke Gur, who gave the song the words to fit the tune.”
Singer Harvey Malaiholo, who gave a heartfelt performance of the song, was awarded Best Performer. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “I sang it with all my heart because the song needs it. It tells about how life should go on even when love ends.”
